This brief examines the reasons behind Brazil’s opposition to the inclusion of peace within the post-2015 development agenda. The authors start by discussing the emerging consensus that peace and security should be included as a key pillar within the post-2015 framework to advance global development. They then review and respond to the reasons why Brazil is reluctant to endorse the link between peace, security and development in the post-2015 development agenda.
