This note discusses the 2014 crisis in Iraq, including the role that the 2003 US-led intervention in the country played in bringing it about and the level of Iran's influence in Baghdad. The author comments on the possibility of US-Iranian cooperation in Iraq to deal with the advance of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and the potential implications of this for stability in the Middle East.
