This commentary discusses the economic aspect of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine in 2014. The author describes 1) the process of aligning Ukraine's laws with EU regulations; 2) the future impact of the agreement on Ukraine's economy; and 3) the implications of the agreement on trade relations between Ukraine and Russia. The author concludes that the implementation of the Association Agreement will not automatically solve Ukraine's economic problems, but will improve the country's trade balance and increase the supply of foreign currency.
