This paper discusses China’s strategy in the South China Sea, arguing that it should be understood as part of Beijing’s aim to push the US out of Southeast and Northeast Asia. More specifically, it outlines the approach China is taking to press its claims against other countries in the South China Sea to secure its claims on territory in the region and how he thinks the US should respond to the situation.
