This paper discusses the tensions that exist between North and South Korea as well as what Russia could do to engage with Pyongyang to alleviate then. In particular, it reviews the origins of the crisis on the Korean peninsula as well as how North Korean foreign policy, its domestic situation, and the crisis between the two Korea's has developed since Kim Jong-un came to power in 2011. The author also examines Russia's policy toward North Korea and provides recommendations for Moscow on how to deal with the situation so that it can protect its interests in the region.
