This paper discusses the challenges facing president of Tajikistan Emomali Rohmon's regime following his reelection to office in November 2013. The authors argue that these challenges include tackling economic reforms, religious extremism, public demand for a strong opposition force to the government, and resolving conflicts with neighboring countries. The authors also suggest that these issues are making it increasingly difficult for Rohmon's regime to maintain the high degree of stability it has enjoyed in the past.
