This meeting note summarizes the main points of discussion from a forum on the challenges of rebuilding peace in countries and societies emerging from conflict. The purpose of the meeting was to identify the instruments and tools available to peace builders working on the ground. The main topics covered at the forum included 1) the track record of past peacebuilding efforts; 2) economic and political transition processes; and 3) the rule of law and transitional justice. The note also provides an overview of the forum’s recommendations for policy makers and researchers on how to support peacebuilding processes.
