This is a manual intended to help practitioners working in peacekeeping missions in Africa promote gender equality. More specifically, it seeks to help civilian, police and military personnel working in the field of peace and security operations strengthen their understanding of gender equality, women, peace and security, and gender-based violence using international best practices. The manual also provides concrete elements and tools for applying a gender perspective as part of the day-to-day work of peacekeeping missions.
