This is a transcript of a speech by David Halpern, Director of the UK government’s Behavioural Insights Team, on his organization which attempts to apply insights from a range of academic disciplines, such as behavioral economics, psychology and social anthropology, to public policy and services. Among other things, he addresses how the process used by the team works, why he considers it to be a valuable approach to policy making, and the future of the unit.
