This brief discusses the land and resource-based conflicts between tribes in Nwoya District, Northern Uganda. It provides a brief historical overview of land acquisition and ownership disputes between the tribes in the region, focusing specifically on the increase in violence and conflict intensity since the discovery of oil in the region in 2007/08. It also makes some recommendations on how to establish a sustainable land ownership system in the region and support dialogue processes between the tribes.
