This paper analyzes the historic development and future prospects of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). The author analyzes the political circumstances behind the establishment of NEPAD in 2001 and explains the original goals of the G8 and the African Union for the partnership. The paper explains that NEPAD has very few chances of succeeding and bringing about effective improvements in good governance and economic development in Africa, without the implementation of various reforms.
