This paper provides an overview of The People's Mujahedeen of Iran, more commonly known as the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq or MEK, which is an Iranian resistance group that opposes its country's government. More specifically the paper examines 1) the roots of the group’s resistance; 2) its support for Saddam Hussein's Iraq; 3) the relocation of its base of operations by the US military following the 2003 invasion of Iraq; 4) the leadership of the group and its ideology; 5) its size and how it is supported; and 6) the debate over whether the West should support the group.
