This paper examines the reasons why US investors are struggling to close investment deals in Mongolia and argues that the main obstacles are connected to the country's political system. Indeed, the author argues that weak government institutions, unaccountable politicians and political parties, and unclear decision making processes have all reduced the ability of Mongolia to reach and honor such investment agreements.
