This report provides an overview of Guatemala's political and economic conditions, relations with the United States, and several issues likely to figure in future decisions made by the US Congress and the Administration regarding Guatemala. These issues include 1) security and governance as well as protection of human rights and human rights conditions on some US military aid to Guatemala; 2) support for the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala; 3) combating narcotics trafficking and organized crime; 4) trade relations; 5) inter-country adoption; and 6) unaccompanied children at the US border.
