This policy brief examines the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement's (SPLM) role in peace and nation building in South Sudan. In particular, the author argues that reforms to the SPLM, which address the party’s internal conflicts, structure, and its penetration at the grassroots-level, are crucial to achieving sustainable peace in South Sudan.
