This paper examines the political position of South Korea's President Park Geun-hye following 15 by-elections, which saw her party increase its parliamentary majority. The author argues that despite the victory in these elections, the results will lead to increased pressure on President Park as they demonstrate that her administration is under no real pressure from the country’s political opposition, which, he suggests, the government has blamed for some of its political troubles.
