This report looks at the role of civil society in the process of poverty eradication. The author examines the poverty-related activities of civil society organizations at local and national levels in Honduras, Nicaragua and Zambia. The paper emphasizes the role of women and highlights the importance of local initiatives in successfully achieving poverty alleviation. The author discusses the general challenges facing civil society organizations based on the examples from Honduras, Nicaragua and Zambia.
