This article portrays the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), which is a Muslim separatist group founded by militant Uighurs in China's Xinjiang province. More specifically, it clarifies ETIM's goals and methods, its seeming ties to al-Qaeda, and how China is reacting to the group and other Uighur separatists.
