This paper discusses the notion of financial liberalization and its importance for economic activity and growth. The author provides a number of statistics and tables on financial liberalization and macroeconomic performance in several Southeastern European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Romania.
