In light of the upcoming Mozambican presidential election, in October 2014, this brief examines the security challenges posed by potential conflict between the rebel group Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) and the ruling Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (Frelimo). The author also lists a set of five recommendations on how both sides can avoid violence in the post-election period.
