This paper points out some methodological problems that arise in modeling economies in transition, with a particular focus on Croatia. The author focuses on macroeconometric time series data because theoretical developments in this area, most importantly the concept of co-integration, have increasingly drawn attention to modeling of macroeconometric relationships and their dynamics. She explains that a new generation of Croatian econometricians is emerging which is embracing collaborative work and new trends in applied econometric econometrics.
