This paper discusses the importance of greater 'environmental integration' among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The reasons behind this specific type of cooperation include land degradation and desertification, air pollution, and the limited availability of fresh water. When all is said and done, however, integrated environmental policies will not work unless a parallel integration of economic policies occurs at the same time.
