This paper examines the reforms undertaken by Cuba to attempt to ensure that the country’s economic and political model can survive in a globalized world. In particular, the author examines the concepts and intentions of the country’s economic reforms, the extent of its political reform, and how the reforms have affected Cuba’s relations with Latin American states, the US and the EU.
