This brief examines the Common African Position (CAP), which was created by African states to serve as the framework for their input into negotiations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Among other matters, the author examines 1) the origins of the CAP; 2) the main goals and expectations of the CAP as well as the different issue areas it deals with; and 3) the main challenges facing the CAP. The author also provides a number of recommendations for the African Union and the African Group on how they can further the interests of Africa in the negotiations over the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
