This commentary reports on the outcomes of a special UN Climate Summit, held on September 23 2014 in New York. The author reports that although the declarations on post-2020 commitments from leaders were moderate, the summit also revealed the growing engagement of non-state players, such as businesses and local authorities in climate actions. He believes that the increased interest from politicians and business representatives should increase the prospect of a global climate agreement being finalized.
