This commentary discusses Vietnam's "omnidirectional" foreign policy as it attempts to balance its international relations partnerships with the US on one side and Russia and China on the other. The author argues that, in trying to maintain this balance, Vietnam may, in fact, once more fall into a state of relative isolation.
