This paper provides an overview of the effects which the increase in oil and shale gas production in the US is having both on the country and the world. More specifically, the author discusses 1) the scale of the increases in production; 2) the effects which the export of natural gas and oil will have on the US and other countries; and 3) the geopolitical implications that will result from an increase in US energy security through its oil and shale gas production.
