Publication

The aim examines the concept of national identities, with a particular focus on Macedonia. It distinguishes between two basic types of identities: ethnic/cultural and national/state identities. The author provides a review of existing literature, exploring its contents and dimensions in an attempt to elucidate the elements of national identity. The paper argues that national identity is not as sound and unitary as proponents of national groups contend. The author supports his arguments with empirical data from the Macedonian national case.
