This report examines how US extended deterrence might help 1) maintain East Asian security over the next decade; 2) counter China's growing military and economic power in the region; and 3) cope with deterrence-eroding threats from new sources, including cyberspace and outer space. Finally, the report recommends specific ways to enhance US extended deterrence capabilities in this volatile part of the world.
