This paper explores the influence of EU trade policy on the trade policies of the Southeastern European countries in general, and on regional trade integration in the region in particular. The paper argues that the lack of real interest among the economies of Southeast Europe to create local regional integration stems from their preoccupation with the prospect of EU integration rather than undeveloped trade flows. The authors also outline the negative influence that the common EU trade policy will have on the external trade relations of Southeastern Europe.
