This brief focuses on the UK's attempts to balance its trade, security and foreign policy interests in the Middle East. In particular, it explores 1) the importance of British exports to the region, 2) the UK's increasing reliance on Middle Eastern energy; and 3) what adjustments, if any, the British government will make to its foreign policy in the area, particularly with the two previous factors in mind.
