This paper examines how the UN 1) opened up an 'impartial, dialogue-facilitating space' in Yemen after the Arab Spring uprisings in the country, and 2) participated in the design and implementation of a political transition process there. The paper also discusses the lessons one can learn from the UN's involvement in Yemen and provides recommendations for future UN mediation efforts.
