This paper examines the impact cyber-attacks can have in ‘remote control warfare', particularly on civilian populations. In doing so, it considers 1) the role of cyber-attacks across the spectrum of violence and in national security; 2) how cyber threats have extended the arena of total war; and 3) some of the peculiar features of the cybersecurity debate.
