This issue of the "Journal of Terrorism Research" focuses on 1) the potential utility of drones in fighting terrorism in Africa; 2) the overall effectiveness of US drone strikes in Pakistan; 3) the religious criteria used to justify suicide bombing; 4) what happens when hybrid criminal-terrorist groups gain control over a failed or failing state; and 5) the use of violent images to dehumanize politically threatening groups, as in the case of Abu Ghraib.
