This issue of the ISS Peace and Security Council (PSC) Report includes articles on 1) the role the members of the African Union’s Panel of the Wise could play in peacemaking and mediation in Africa; and 2) ways the PSC is attempting to innovate how African countries work together to combat terrorism. The issue also includes articles on the PSC's review of the situation in South Sudan and the efforts to bring about peace in the country as well as the attempted military coup d’état in August 2014 in Lesotho and the responses to it by international actors including the African Union and the Southern African Development Community.
