This paper discusses how the election of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as president of Indonesia in 2014 is likely to affect the country's foreign policy. The author argues that Jokowi's lack of foreign policy experience means that he is likely to delegate this task to competing foreign policy advisers and that the country will therefore have difficulty in defining a clear foreign policy approach. He then briefly examines the implications this will have for Australia.
