This paper provides an overview of Myanmar’s electricity sector and power generation potential. The author states that Myanmar has the lowest electrification rate among the ASEAN countries and that upgrading the country's electricity infrastructure and related legislation is central to Myanmar’s economic development. He also provides recommendations for Myanmar's government on how to deal with some of the challenges facing the country in its efforts to enhance energy distribution.
