This second quadrennial review of the US Department of Homeland Security examines the US homeland security strategy and provides guidance for the department's programs, assets, capabilities, budget, policies, and authorities. More specifically, it looks at 1) the general strategic environment in 2014; 2) the strategic priority areas of the department, including the threat of terrorism, cyberspace, biological threats and flows of people and goods; and 3) the main long-standing priority areas for the department, including nuclear terrorism, immigration and the preparedness of the country to deal with the threats it faces.
