This brief examines the problems facing Tunisia and the bureaucratic and political barriers that are hindering efforts to reform the country’s security sector. In response to the latter problem, the brief's author also provides recommendations on how the Tunisian government, civil society, and the international community can work together to promote democratization and civilian control of the state's security organs.
