This paper discusses Russia's options for alternative food sources following its embargoes on particular food and agricultural products from countries that placed sanctions on the country due to Moscow's actions in Ukraine in 2014. The author contends that while there are some possible alternative sources, such as Belarus, China, Turkey and countries in Latin America, a change in trade patterns would have a high price, not only in terms of potentially increasing inflation, but also due to its potential implications for Moscow's relations with Beijing.
