Ahead of the October 2014 parliamentary elections in Ukraine, this brief outlines two possible types of coalition government that may be elected: a “pro-European” coalition and an “interest groups” coalition. The author also discusses the implications of each type of coalition on Ukraine’s foreign and domestic policies and proposes what the EU should do in the event that these scenarios occur.
