This commentary discusses the opposition to the inclusion of an investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) chapter in the negotiations of the US-EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The author argues that opponents of the chapter fear that ISDS will allow US multinational corporations to undermine local standards and legislation in Europe. She also briefly examines the implications of the ISDS provisions for Poland.
