This report discusses Israel’s expansion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank and Gaza and how it is hindering a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The authors argue that Palestinian self-determination in the framework of a two-state solution cannot be realized without a viable territorial space and a robust national movement capable of uniting and representing Palestinians. They then examine recent developments that offer cause for hope, including the new legal and political reality created by Palestinian diplomacy in multilateral institutions.
