This paper presents the results of the the Arms Registration and Marking (ARM) program to mark and register weapons held by tribal communities in West Darfur, Sudan. Among other issues, the report examines 1) the structure, composition and resources available to the ARC; 2) the current approach to the registration and marking of illicit civilian weapons in West Darfur; 3) the perceptions of community, political and religious leaders in West Darfur of the proposed arms registration process; 4) the linkages between the work of the ARC and that of other regional stakeholders; and 5) the potential impact of the registration and marking program on human security in West Darfur.
