This paper discusses the history of India’s exclusion from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) and lays out an argument for why the country should be among the new members to join the group in 2015. The author explains that two decades after India initially applied to join APEC, it is still not a member, meaning that the group has missed out on the opportunity to increase trade and investment ties with one of the region's most dynamic economies. Consequently, he suggests that the leaders at the 2014 APEC summit should pledge to add members in 2015 and place India at the top of the list of these potential new entries.
