This policy brief examines 1) the extent and nature of domestic violence in South Africa; 2) the way in which the country's criminal justice system responds to domestic violence; and 3) the implementation of the country's Domestic Violence Act DVA. The authors also provide recommendations on what South Africa can do to combat domestic violence.
