This monograph examines the role of 'asymmetric leadership' in transitional states -- i.e., it 1) provides a brief review of leadership theory; 2) focuses on the typologies of leadership; 3) examines the phenomenon and key elements of asymmetric leadership; 4) explores the roles this specific type of leadership plays in transition processes; and 5) tests its theorizing by looking at the case studies of Lebanon and Israel and the Palestinians.
