This monograph discusses how Central Asian nations continue to welcome the United States’ presence in their region, particularly as a balancer to other external powers. However, they’re also concerned that Washington isn’t interested in continuing to play this role, which makes the nations’ unease both sensible and justified. The monograph also focuses on how the Central Asian states have begun to close their external political-economic 'connectivity gaps' and what this may mean for intra-regional dynamics.
