This paper examines the difficulties the Ukrainian energy sector will face in attempting to ensure it has sufficient gas supplies during the 2014/2015 winter and beyond in light of Russia's cutting of deliveries of gas to the country in June 2014 and the poor state of Moscow-Kiev relations. The author also discusses what Ukraine can do to overcome these challenges and what measures the EU may take to assist the country.
