This monograph examines how corruption is reported on and categorized by the government and civil society organizations in South Africa. The author argues that there is no standardized system for classifying or analyzing corruption in SA and that this makes the interpretation of available information very difficult. He then puts forward a system to classify forms of corruption and uses it to interpret data on corruption produced by such agencies as the Special Investigating Unit, the South African Police Service and Public Service Commission.
